The 3 major villages in this area are Dominical, a great surfing destination with many hotels, restaurants, bars and shops. There is also a medical center, the Saturday’s Farmers Market and a great variety of shops. Another 15 km south and before reaching San Buenas Golf Resort, we find the village of Ojochal, a mixture of Ticos (friendly short name for Costaricans), Europeans, Canadians and North Americans, with 23 smaller hotels and 22 restaurants. Ojochal is known for its gourmet restaurants. A larger town in the neighborhood is Palmar Norte where you can find all kind of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars. The only tax free shopping Mall you’ll find it in Golfito, only one hour drive away from San Buenas Golf Resort.
The beaches of Costa Rica are not crowded and each one has a different feature. The closest beaches are Playa Tortuga that has the nesting turtles and Playa Ventana with his sea caves that are accessible by land. Bahia Uvita hosts a large sandbar in the perfect shape of a whale´s tale. In the Ballena National Park or Whale national park humpback and sperm whales can be seen migrating specially during the months of July and August.
The new projected International Airport in Palmar Sur is only 15 km South of San Buenas Golf Resort. The existing national airport offers already now excellent connections every day to different towns in the country.
